Goodlord maps ever expanding world of RentTech with new ‘supergraphic’

Written by The Goodlord team | 27 February 2023

Goodlord has today launched the UK’s first RentTech ‘supergraphic’, mapping the nation’s booming rental technology scene.

The supergraphic, which includes more than 100 technology brands across the UK, is the first of its kind. It makes a distinction between PropTech (traditionally associated with buying, selling and home ownership) and RentTech (technologies specific to helping digitise the rental sector).

As agents and landlords are faced with an ever expanding choice of products, Goodlord hopes this analysis will provide clarity and an overview of the available options.

Available to view at RentTech.co, the map covers UK start-ups and established technology brands, dividing the market into 13 distinct categories:

  • Bills and utilities
  • Data and analytics
  • eSignatures
  • Finance, deposits and legal
  • Insurance and compliance
  • Inventories and inspections
  • Management and maintenance
  • Marketing and promotion
  • Marketplaces and search tools
  • Property management platforms
  • Referencing and credit
  • Virtual tours and viewings
  • Workflow management and CRM

The map is part of an ongoing effort to promote the need for digital transformation in the rental market — a sector that has been overlooked by current ‘PropTech’ solutions.

As Tom Mundy, Co-founder of Goodlord explains,

“Across the UK, millions of households live in rented accommodation. Despite this, lots of rental processes remain slow, manual, and outdated. RentTech is already on track to transform this, with the pace of change amping up each year."

“The UK is becoming an innovation hub for these brands, and we wanted to be the first to champion some of the great achievements occurring in this space."

“Looking ahead, we’ll be mapping this growing industry every year, watching as new innovations enter the market, and as existing players develop the most effective all-in-one solutions.”
