What does five years at Goodlord look like?

8 February 2022

Ali Venerandi, Rent Collection Manager, has gone through quite a transition in his five years at Goodlord. This is how he evolved and what he's enjoyed most about his time here so far.

I recently celebrated five years at Goodlord, which still boggles my mind. This marks the longest time I have spent doing... well, anything! I joined when Goodlord had about 30 people and we are now over 250. In those five years, I have moved house twice and can truly say that both were horrendous experiences - if only I'd used Goodlord! That alone is reason enough to work here, but I wanted to share what else has kept me at Goodlord for over half a decade now.

Learning opportunities

I've held five different roles at Goodlord, and, crucially, I was encouraged to apply for each one by my managers at the time. Learning should be a core driver of any person in the workplace, but a company that actively pushes you to develop your skills and take the next step is invaluable.

Bringing customers value

There is nothing more rewarding than hearing that a customers' problems have been solved by products you have launched or helped develop. I've had the chance to build up two main product lines at Goodlord and the dopamine hit of seeing your measuring graph go in the right direction or an inbound customer email praising the product is unrivalled. In my mind, companies that strive for customer value above all else, and achieve it, are always more likely to keep their employees than those that don't.

People and culture

I've had the pleasure to learn from some of the best. You should always aim to surround yourself with people who can challenge you, and you'll never be wanting for much more. We recently said goodbye to someone who's been a long-standing pillar of Goodlord as he went on to pursue his dream Masters. The emotional goodbye huddle really reminded me of how close we all are here. Culture for me is about having a workplace you feel comfortable in, and a large part of that is making sure you hire people you want to work with. The dogs are ok too.

Rent Collection and the future

One year ago I started my newest role, heading up our new Rent Collection and Payments products here at Goodlord. This has opened up a whole world of learning opportunities and has been the most exciting year yet, having the chance to build a whole new mini-business! I'm now even looking to grow my team to find people who are as passionate about customer value and learning as I am, to help us drive the product further.

If you're hungry to learn, heavily focused on targets, and enjoy working in an environment which allows you to come up with new ideas and processes, maybe you'll get the chance to join the team soon!
